The students walked in expecting a seminar. Three days later they had been through something closer to the actual job.
It opened by pushing them straight into ambiguity, no slides, no comfort. Test your assumptions. Find a real problem. That alone did something to the room: people stopped asking "is this right?" and started asking "does this matter?" That switch is the exact point where entrepreneurship begins.
From there it got structural. Passion starts the journey, but structure is what keeps it alive, and the students felt that the hard way.
Business Model Canvases. Low-fidelity MVPs to test whether anyone actually wanted the thing. Unit economics and cash flow mapped out honestly. Nothing was taught for its own sake. Every framework got held up against reality until the truth fell out.
By day three the questions had changed completely. Not "how do we raise money?" but "why should anyone believe this?" Numbers stopped being formulas and became answers. Stories became positions you had to defend.
The lesson stuck: startups do not fail in pitch rooms.
They fail when founders dodge the realities they already saw coming. The whole exercise was never about convincing others. It was about founders convincing themselves.
